Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom‘s first trailer has arrived, and it’s about as insane as you would expect the series to be at this point.

The trailer gives us our first look into what direction the new director J.A. Bayona will take the series in, and spoils quite a bit of the plot. Colin Trevorrow, who directed the first Jurassic World, and recently exited Star Wars Episode IX, is attached to the movie as a producer.

Fallen Kingdom Baby Blue
Chris Pratt and Baby Blue

Bayona has teased images on social networks that show a larger use of practical effects in this movie compared to Jurassic World, but you wont find that in this trailer. Much like the loathed Star Wars prequels, we’re getting the equivalent of “THROW AS MANY LIGHTSABERS ON TO THE SCREEN AS POSSIBLE”. Is it wrong that I think I’m OK with that here?

Fallen Kingdom New Dinosaur
New Dino: Baryonyx

The trailer opens with a bit of restraint, with “Irma Thomas – Anyone Who Knows What Love Is“, widely known for it’s use in one of the best Black Mirror episode ever. We get to see Chris Pratt’s baby velociraptor buddy, “Blue”. We get flashes of what I hope will be some good old fashion horror elements of the film. Jeff Goldblum shows up to save some of the trailer with the nostalgia factor. The second half of the trailer, however, turns into an absolute massive set-piece, chaos filled, shitshow. Chris Pratt and dinosaurs abound run like idiots, and we get the same shot, frame by frame, of a T-Rex roaring loudly over a recent kill (still looked badass).

While the trailer got me amped, here’s to hoping we get to see more animatronics, less CGI, and a bit of horror back in Jurassic Park.
