In yet another instance of a beloved comedy cult classic getting a sequel many years later, the teaser for the fan funded follow-up to Super Troopers has dropped. The teaser has all of the familiar faces you’d expect: Jay Chandrasekhar as Thorny, Kevin Heffernan as Farva, Steve Lemme as Mac, Paul Soter as Foster, and Erik Stolhanske as Rabbit. Even Captain O’Hagan played by Brian Cox is back, and Rob Lowe has been cast as the bad guy.
Unlike ‘Dumb and Dumber To’, and ‘Zoolander 2’, this teaser is surprisingly light on callbacks to the original, but they couldn’t resist putting at least one in. Time will tell if this sequel will end up as a blemish to the original, or a worthy successor. If the Broken Lizard crew can come up with a script that is light on callback jokes, but ripe with new hilarious hi-jinx THIS many years later, we’ll be impressed.
Super Troopers 2 will release on 4/20/2018 (Get it fellow kids? Weed?).
