Waring: Avatar Spoilers Ahead
The never-ending plot discussion surrounding the Avatar sequels continues as long-thought dead characters from the franchise are some how coming back.
In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, James Cameron explained that Stephen Lang’s character, Colonel Miles Quaritch, will not only be returning, but will also be the main villain in all 4 Avatar sequels.
However, there’s still continued speculation as to how he will appear again since you know, he had a pretty significant onscreen death scene.
Cameron said:
“The interesting conceit of the Avatar sequels is it’s pretty much the same characters,” he says. “There are new characters and a lot of new settings and creatures, so I’m taking characters you know and putting them in unfamiliar places and moving them on this greater journey. But it’s not a whole bunch of new characters every time. There’s not a new villain every time, which is interesting. Same guy. Same motherfucker through all four movies. He is so good and he just gets better. I know Stephen Lang is gonna knock this out of the park.”
Fear the Walking Dead’s Cliff Curtis and Game of Thrones Oona Chaplin are some of the new faces to also join the cast.
Avatar 2 is scheduled for theaters on December 18, 2020 with additional installments releasing on December 17, 2021, December 20, 2024, and December 19, 2025.
